I wasn’t taking any chances on Santa Clause not giving me what I wanted this year, so I took matters into my own hands and when I hung my stocking by the chimney with care, I put a Garmin Forerunner 645 GPS enabled running watch into it! I wanted to make sure that I got just what I wanted this year as a gift that I’m going to look forward to using as soon as roads around my home start to de-ice! Don’t let the Doggie Picture fool you.. we used him for cuteness, Did it work?
I’ve been thinking about getting this running watch from Garmin for a bit now and I decided, Christmas was the perfect time to commit to getting myself a gift that would be a great incentive for me to not only reach my running goals but to consistently set new ones.
The Garmin Forerunner 645 will provide me with a wide range of data to use to look at optimizing my runs in a way that should allow me to tailor my training so that my body benefits from the pace and routines and not be negatively impacted by them.
The 645 provides advanced running dynamics, including ground contact time balance, stride length, vertical ratio and a lot more. It uses a wrist-based heart rate to offer performance monitoring features, including evaluating my current training status, so like I said above, I’m working to improve myself, not to hurt myself!
Another big factor in my choosing this watch/trainer is its battery life. I never like to feel like I’m tethered to a USB charging cable when I’m wearing an activity watch and with the Forerunner 645, I don’t feel that way because of its battery life of 7 days without needing a charge. Now, that’s without using the continuous GPS function, but like most of us that run, we usually are traveling over tried and true circuits, so the GPS is not always needed, except when I get the urge to get off my usual trail and head up into the not-too familiar mountain routes. Then having a GPS watch, especially one created by Garmin who pioneered the GPS functionality for our military is a MUST HAVE!
Now I don’t know about you, but when I’m running, I like to travel as light as I can, but I also like to listen to some of my favorite tunes while I’m running a long distance. I like to lose myself, up to a point, when my music is playing. This way, I can let my mind wander a bit and take in the view, and maybe sing along with my songs, well maybe not out loud, but I’m still going along with the tempo, which also lets me pick up my pace a bit if it’s a lively tune. Well, the Garmin Forerunner 645 has enough storage to allow me to download over 3 gigs of my favorite tunes and listen to them via a “Bluetooth” headset, keeping my weighty phone off of my hip or upper-arm band.
Besides the gift of music this smartwatch provides, I can even lighten up my toting load a bit more by NOT having to carry a wallet or credit card with me. That means no more arm-band carrying case, or a waist-belt to hold my cash. The 645 allows me to make payments right through the watch interface, using the Garmin Pay function that you download from Garmin Connect and once you set up your watch using the easy to navigate instructions, you’re ready to go and let your Garmin 645 work its magic!
Now besides these new features that I went into above, just because I really like them, the bottom line is the Forerunner 645 is a training watch that will help you to take yourself to that next level in your running program. After all, running is more than just exercise to a runner, its function is to help you to exceed in your physical performance! And the 645 has the tools you need to do this, every time you lace up your running shoes!
The dynamics built into the 645 track your running dynamics in great detail by offering you the stats you’ve accomplished, such as good contact time balance, vertical ratio, stride length, lactate threshold, and VO2 Max, and there are a few more! The 24 x 7 heart-monitoring ability built into the Garmin Forerunner 645 uses the new “Garmin Elevate” wrist technology that gives you all day monitoring, with just using the watch itself and NO chest-band. Using the Forerunner 645 is like taking your doctor along with you on your run. You have just that much data being sifted at all times that this “Smartwatch” even tracks your daily stress levels and notifies you when things are getting a little too much for you to deal with right at this time and to take it easy for a bit.
So, is there any wonder why I chose the Garmin Forerunner 645 to be my “Go-To” companion, trainer and fitness monitoring ally as I go through my paces throughout the New Year of 2019, and beyond?
Why not check one out for yourself, after all, it’s not too late to place one in Your stocking that’s hung by YOUR chimney with care, now, is it?
